2.30pm:  According to the Met Office the wind here on the west coast of Cumbria is gusting to 60mph. A short time ago, it was snowing too … with more winds and snow forecast. Being a cowardly soul – and infinitely preferring the prospect of being snowed in at home to being snowed in at work, I ALMOST bolted. Then the wind dropped (a bit) and the sun came out (briefly) and now I’m all of a-dither.

I DID ring and tell Grace … our wonderful cleaner … not to come in because she might get stranded … but now I’m sitting watching the clouds galloping over the hills, listening to the gale force winds howling through the tall trees and wibbling …

10.30am:  Sometimes, as I go through my working day, things happen that cause me to say to myself “Well that was jolly funny/weird/scary/surreal. I must remember to put it in our next newsletter …”.

I never do, of course, on account of having an aging and unreliable brain and entirely too much useless information cluttering it up.

It came to me in a blinding flash last night (note for posterity … that was about 2.00am on Thursday the 31st of January) that what I and the waiting world really needed was a Blog. I mean, the Universe and its cat has a blog … so why shouldn’t I?

I realized that if I had one, I could use it to write memos to myself, jot down random thoughts as they popped into my head … and whine. Having somewhere to whine is very important (or as the immensely irritating B Jones would have it – v. important).

I whine, therefore I am.

So here it is. Your own personal doorway into the tragic remnants of my brain … should you want to read it.
